Up for bid is a beautiful Vintage 1940 Philco 40-216 Console Radio with wireless Remote. Produced in January 1940, this Radio had a total production run of only 3,449 made. The Radio is a 3 band Radio with Short Wave and AM. The Remote is a very unique feature for the time. It not only selects pre-set stations on the radio, but also increases and decreases volume and can turn off the radio. The Radio measures 37" tall x 35" wide x 14 1/2" deep. The Remote measures 5" high x 7 1/4" wide x 8 1/2" deep. The Cabinet is in Very Good condition with chipping on the bottom right front and near the top grille area. The Grille is the original fabric and is in incredible condition with no holes. The Radio was last powered up in 1986 and has not been used since. The power cord is okay, but the Radio should be powered up by an experienced Radio person. The Remote is missing its Type 30 tube and receiver for the Remote was disconnected(not removed) in the 1950s. The Remote also needs a battery. Because of the delicate nature of the electronics and the fact that it has not been powered up since 1986, I do not know if the Radio is functioning properly. As a result, this is being sold AS IS. Because of the size and weight of this item, this is being listed as a "Local pick-up" auction.
